As a student of Chrisitanity, I have come to understand that marriage was created by God in the Old Testament (Genesis 2:23–24) as the joining of a female and male as one. And In the New Testament (Matthew 19:6) – “So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate” (Matthew 19:6). Meaning? Maybe God did not intend marriage for everyone.
The Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution and also the Civil Rights Act of 1866 freed former slaves, granted them full citizenship, and also the right to vote. There is no need for the Republican leadership to call for a review or repeal of the Fourthteenth Amendment which grants automatic citizenship to people born in the United States. Leave it alone. A simple solution would be to create a new Amendment that treats violations of our nation’s immigration laws as criminal infractions instead of civil violations, only granting automatic citizenship to children born to immigrants who have not broken any immigration laws. You can figure out the rest. Its not very complicated folks, only the politics.
